From 1 November 2026, a new one-off Medicare-funded Healthy Kids Check is available for eligible children aged 3 to under 4 years.

Every child grows and develops at their own pace. This health assessment provides a valuable opportunity to review your child's overall health and development, identify any early concerns, and receive personalised advice to support their wellbeingand help them feel confident and ready for preschool life.

What Does the Healthy Kids Check Include?
Our nurse and GP will review important areas of your child's health and development, including:
* Growth and physical health – Height, weight and general wellbeing
* Speech and language – Communication and understanding
* Movement and coordination – Physical and motor development
* Vision, hearing and oral health – Eyesight, hearing and dental health
* Social and emotional development – Behaviour, social interaction and emotional wellbeing
* Healthy routines – Nutrition, sleep, physical activity and everyday habits
* Your GP will discuss the findings with you, answer any questions and recommend further support or follow-up if needed.

Making Your Visit More Convenient
For children aged 3½ to under 4 years, the 4-year-old vaccinations may also be given during the same appointment, subject to clinical eligibility. Your doctor will discuss this option with you during your visit, helping you save an extra trip to the practice.

Who Can Book?
This one-off, Medicare-funded assessment is available to eligible children aged 3 to under 4 years who have not previously received a Healthy Kids Check. New patients are welcome! We look forward to welcoming more families to Montrose Medical Practice.
